Application for teachersApplication for IRO staff

Programme

The main objective of this event is to invite HEI teachers and international relations office (IRO) staff from different countries to work collaboratively on how to promote the approach of Internationalization at Home (I@H). I@H is an approach to enhance international experiences and intercultural skills through academic and extracurricular activities offered at the home university to all students, including those who do not have the opportunity to experience a physical mobility abroad. I@H activities include among others guest lectures from international speakers, comparative international literature or case studies and online learning collaboration.

In joint training sessions (teachers + IRO staff) you will be familiarized with the concept of I@H, learn different instruments and activities to enhance international and intercultural skills at home and discuss best practices to establish I@H at your home university. Additionally, you will take part in the following activities.

If you are a teacher: You will deliver academic sessions to UPSA students and teachers and have the opportunity to connect with international teachers of the same research area.

If you are IRO staff: You will participate in a workshop dealing with the latest developments in international higher education.

All participants are welcome to join the social and cultural activities organized specially for this event.

English language proficiency is required to participate in the training sessions on I@H.

Our University

The Pontifical University of Salamanca has its roots in the 13th century, when the collaboration between the Pope and the King gave rise to an institution capable of bringing together knowledge about man, society, nature, history and God. The UPSA was founded in 1940 to restore the faculties of Theology and Canons, excluded from Spanish university classrooms in
1852. Today it is one of the best universities in Spain in terms of academic performance and job placement and has been ranked among the TOP 3 Spanish universities in Teaching and Learning in the CYD ranking.

The educational system of the UPSA is a combination of lectures, seminars and practical classes, and student attendance is mandatory for all of them. The average number of class hours is around 20 hours per week. We have 10 Faculties spread over the Headquarters in the city center, Campus Champagnat located in Salamanca and Campus Madrid. More than 70,000 students have passed through our classrooms.
